Anti-Fraud Policy

1. Introduction

We are committed to ensuring fair and legal use of our platform. This Anti-Fraud Policy explains what counts as fraud, how we prevent it, and what happens if fraud occurs.

2. What Is Fraud?

Fraud includes any dishonest or illegal actions that harm creators, labels, or our service. Examples include:

Copyright and Trademark Infringement: the unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution of protected creative works (e.g., music, videos, images) or trademarked assets (e.g., logos, brand names, slogans) without proper permissions.

Artificial Streams: streams generated through bots, automated systems, or paid services designed to inflate play counts, rather than reflecting genuine listener engagement.

Misleading and Problematic Content: content that misleads customers by mimicking popular works or trademarks, using inaccurate search terms, may be hidden. This also includes duplicate releases, repetitious tracks, or unauthorized recordings like bootlegs, karaoke tracks, ringtones, DJ mixes, and ad tracks. Submissions with low editorial value, such as spam-like content, fake artists, poor-quality audio or artwork and offensive material (e.g., hate speech, defamatory content, or terrorism-related material) are also prohibited.

All submissions must comply with our terms and ensure originality, legality and appropriateness.

3. How We Detect and Combat Fraud

We monitor content and sales closely to detect and prevent fraud. This includes:

Content Checks: screening uploads for copyrighted material, low-quality content, and fake artist profiles.

Sales Monitoring: analyzing sales data for unusual activity.

DSP Collaboration: working with streaming platforms to identify suspicious behavior.

Industry Partnerships: integrating data from the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA) and the Music Fraud Fight Alliance (MFFA) to identify fraudulent actors and suspicious patterns.

4. What Happens If Fraud Is Detected?

4.1. Fraud Categories

Fraud cases are categorized as described below:

Fake User: fake user accounts, false identities.

Artificial Streaming: unusual streaming activity reported by DSPs.

Copyright Issues: copyright or trademark violations.

Monetization Abuse: deliberate misuse of UGC (User-Generated Content) platforms to artificially inflate revenue through deceptive or manipulative practices.

4.2. Strike Policy

We use a three-strike system to ensure compliance with our policies:

First Strike: Warning and content removal.

Second Strike: Warning, content removal, additional restrictions and verification requests.

Third Strike: Warning, content removal and permanent account blocking.

In certain serious cases, we reserve the right to block accounts immediately, bypassing the three-strike system. These cases include but are not limited to: severe or repeated copyright infringement, fraudulent or illegal activity, violations that pose security risks or cause significant harm to our community.

4.3. Account Blocking

Accounts involved in critical fraud cases and accounts with three strikes will be immediately blocked. Consequences include:

Catalogue Takedown: Removal of all music uploaded by the blocked account.

Payment Withholding or Escrow: Holding back royalties linked to fraudulent releases or accounts.

Royalties will remain in escrow for a maximum period of five years, in order to comply with DSP regulations, whereupon they will be released if the customer proves they do not originate from fraudulent activity.

Legal Action: Possible legal consequences if fraud involves financial or reputational damage.

5. How You Can Stay Safe

To avoid fraud-related issues:

  • Upload only what you own: make sure you have legal rights to the music you upload.
  • Be transparent: provide accurate account and identity information.
  • Avoid suspicious, illegitimate promotional services: Avoid using services that promise to boost stream numbers artificially, as they can harm your credibility and violate DSP policies.
